Ayurvedic Yoga Massage (AYM)
Bodywork for alignment, release, and renewal

Ayurvedic Yoga Massage (AYM) is a deeply restorative form of bodywork that weaves together the healing principles of Ayurveda with the movement and breath awareness of Yoga.

Using herbal oils, rhythmic strokes, and yoga-inspired stretches, this practice works through the whole body, helping to ease tension, support circulation, and restore the natural flow of energy (prana).
Each session is both grounding and awakening, leaving you feeling open, centred, and reconnected.

What is AYM?

AYM was developed by Kusum Modak in Pune, India, blending traditional Ayurvedic massage with Iyengar-inspired stretching.
I trained with James Winstanley, who studied directly with Kusum, and continues to honour this lineage.

Unlike targeted massage techniques, AYM is dynamic, floor-based, full-body and flowing. It begins with gentle rhythmic strokes and gradually deepens into assisted stretches, following the natural breath to open the joints, muscles, and subtle channels (srotas).

As the sequence unfolds, the body releases old patterns of holding, the mind softens, and a quiet stillness emerges.

AYM works through the entire body rather than focusing on specific areas (like the back or shoulders). This approach allows for a deeper, integrated realignment that supports balance throughout.
This was my first Ayurvedic yoga massage and I was a little apprehensive at first. Sophie put me at ease immediately and I had complete trust in her throughout. She checked with me about any injuries and adapted accordingly. The combination of stretching, pressure, and deep breathing has completely relaxed me, amazing Sophie... thank you, I will definitely do this again x

Genuinely one of the best massages I've ever had, and I lived in Asia I had a lot of massages.
After a stressful half-term, this is exactly what teachers need!
Sophie is able to find my tight spots and spend the extra time there to help me relax into it.
